Its particular architectural style amazes tourists from all over the world and its museums are unique. Did you know that the Gulf of Trieste has its own wind? Miramare Castle
One of the most famous attractions in Trieste is definitely the Castle of Miramare. It is a building overlooking the sea visible as soon as you enter the city. The Castle, which now houses a lovely museum, was built in the nineteenth century at the behest of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg. The name of the castle derives from the Spanish phrase "Mira el Mar" and recalls the Spanish buildings on the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, so loved by the archduke.
